Abstract

This review examines Allie Kosterich's book News Nerds: Institutional Change in Journalism by Allie Kosterich, highlighting its contributions to the study of the evolution of journalism in the digital age. In their integration of technical and narrative skills, “news nerds” emerge as essential new agents for this transformation. The review praises the author's theoretical approach and analytical structure, but also points out some shortcomings, such as his overemphasis on high-profile U.S. publications and his scant attention to diverse contexts or to the ethical dilemmas that the digitization of journalism seeks to resolve.
