Four socio-statistical considerations to revise the femicide´s etiology in Spain

Abstract
In this article, four fundamental factors to understand the etiology of femicide in Spain are statistically addressed: the nationality of victims and perpetrators, the suicidality of perpetrators, and breakups and aggressions in couples. The analysis carried out allows us to appreciate that there are specific socio-cultural factors in femicides in Spain that are different from those of the general population, taking into account the over-representation of foreigners among the perpetrators and victims; that post-feminicidal suicides exhibit a specific singularity, because they present different quantitative characteristics from those that occur in the general population; and that there are specific and unique elements in couple breakups and in violence in couples that precede femicide that are not found in couples in general. All of this shows that femicide in Spain has a notorious etiological complexity, wich must be asumed if this phenomenom is to be properly understood, and that hardly admits a structural and monocausal explanation.
